In June 2017 OvercommitAggr received an essential new feature: the new metric growth. Using --metric=growth one can calculate the usage of a thin-provisioned aggregate for a specific period in the future based on the current trend. Unfortunately this feature was not well documented and the usage of the different parameters was not very clear. The documentation has now been improved with the help of one of our users:
- The documentation is a lot more extensive
- Parameters can now be set in minutes, hours or days and have sensible default values, so that the check can be used without setting any parameters.
These changes will be included in version 3.10.0. For a good first introduction to growth metrics read the article Identifying Overcommitment in Aggregates.
