A recurring question from our user base is whether directly checking the health of NetApp cluster switches is supported. As with many specific questions, the answer is yes but TMTOWTDI (there’s more than one way to do it). There are several options available.
- The existing check_netapp_takeover takeover check script will alert you if one switch or cluster interconnect port is down.
- ConsolLabs also offers a useful check_nwc_health plugin for nagios.
- Manually set up syslogging on the cluster switches, then create alerts for severe events.
As you can see there are a number of ways to check the cluster switches and it’s therefore not planned to develop any additional support for this topic.
